Childrens Quilts

12 block quilt with matching wall hanging and bunting

The wall hanging has been outlined around the design, the border has
wiggle quilting,  for the the backing and binding I chose a stripped flannel fabric.

I have kept this design simple with a machine quilting in a random thread.

Bunting made from quilt fabrics and applique design blocks

These two quilt were designed using the same fabric.

Pin Boards

Fabric Pin boards.

These fabric pin boards are made using traditional upholstery techniques.
They can be made to suit all budgets and to specific sizes using a cork pin board. Alternatively custom made sizes need to be made from pin board panel or MDF which can be cut to size by local timber yards.
The board is covered with polyester wadding to give a padded effect.

For this design I chose a matching ribbon trim and brass coloured upholstery tacks.

Gingham and matching ribbon trim.

Funky monochromatic colours and striking print make this a fun design for music lovers.
All of these designers measure 70cm x 60cm and can be made with a metre of fabric.

Christmas Crafts

Christmas Crafts

Christmas Decorations.
These little birds are quite fiddly but look stunning on the tree or as a table centre.
The design is drawn on to the wrong side of the fabric and stitched before cutting out.

Personalised Stockings

Personalised lined Christmas stockings I made these using applique designs and have made them in a variety of sizes.
The Reindeer design measures 1.5 metres long and 90cm at the wides part of the foot, the stocking has been lined with matching fabric and Ric Rac trim.
The star design is a smaller stocking measuring 60cm, 40cm at the wides part of the foot. The stocking has been lined with a contrasting fabric and matching Ric Rac trim.

Advent Calenders

There are many designs for Advent calenders
Design 1 was made from a preprinted kit and is excellent for  beginners.
Design 2 is a patchwork design and was designed for a more advanced stitcher.

Patchwork

For this class I wanted to introduce the learners to patchwork.
These bags are made from a simple 6 X 5 block patchwork design and are lined.
To make them as gifts I made a simpe bag to carry them in a handbag.

In addition t the original design I experimented using  difference size blocks and layouts to create a range of bags in different sizes and styles.
These were pesonalised for family and friends using a range of fabric

 Reversable Handbags

These cute little bags are made from 40cm of fabric and are made in such a way that they can be reversed to create two looks form one bag.

This design has button attached handles which are made  in two lengths and two colours. Creating a hand or shoulder bag. A simple popper of button fastening finishes off the bag

Bunny & Teapot Applique Accessories

I love this design its so simple but effective on a whole range of accessories.
I have used it to create:

A simple button fastened cushion

Teacosy and matching pot holder
Doorstop combining Bunny & Teapot design with classic Cupcakes

Funky Foxy Scarf

This scarf was a challenge, as I had to learn to knit in the round on double pointed needles.

Starting with 4 stitches at the tip of the tail joining and changing colours.

Next each leg has to be knitted and joined in the round.

After knitting for 42" 106.6cm the front legs are knitted and joined in the round.

Head and ears are knitted separately.
Stuffing the head before closing and stitching the ears in place

Details are embroidered on the face.
The final stage is to stitch the head to the fox’s body.

Since completing the brown fox I have made a second silver grey fox.
These could be easily stuffed and used as draught excluders.
